The Long Drive Guthalungra to Ingham to Lakeland

September 8
I stopped in Townsville to fill up with Shell as I had a coupon. I called in at the Information Centre and a grand little old lady was most helpful.
I have been trying to buy a Camps 6, a book that has over 3700 listings of camp sites most of them are free sites or a nominal fee. I had book 4 but book 6 has photo’s of the site and its more up to date. I went to the RACQ like our AA and RAC and brought it after getting a friend to let me have a discount as he is a member and I am not. They gave him a ring to confirm and bob’s your Uncle a saving of $14.

Burdkin Bridge

I am heading for Ingham to see my cousin Ian and Sue I had to get there by 3pm or there about as a school art concert was due to take place later. I went along and had drink’s and nibbles made by the students of Ingham high School very professionally done I might add.

                                          Don't Drink

After that  they laid on a BBQ and concert of very fine talented students.
Back to Ian and Sue home in a comfortable bed. The evening was very good and unexpected.
September 9
Up early said goodbye to Sue and Ian as they had to go and teach. I was told to make myself at home so I went on to the computer as I wanted to save my pennies. Time to go lost an hour looking for my spare set of keys I could not find them so off I went. Driving along taking in the scenery, I found them the keys I mean, just remembered I left them in a box on the floor by the door.I must find a good hiding place under Plod before long.
I came to an enormous road improvement works from Ingham to Cardwell a 15min hold up, plus more on the way.

I did not do many miles today.   I decided to have a look at Paronella Park, nice spot to camp, the entrance fee includes a night’s camping with power hook up and showers with a day and night tour. The showers and toilets were excellent if you like camp sites then I would go for it. Too crowded for my liking.

September 10
Off towards Cooktown a Long Drive.  I stopped to take a few photo’s as now it is getting into more scenic landscapes. 4 pm time to stop for the night, I found a very nice quite spot at Lakeland, a viewing spot,  with phone coverage. Parked up and cooked my dinner.  It takes about 2 hours to sort one self out for the night including the Blog.
