The Long Drive Kingston SE, Robe, Beachport, Mt Gambier, to Mt Schank

Jan15
I left The Granites rest area Night stop hard to do as it was a fabulous place to stop.
Made my way to Kingston, SE a splendid place I could have driven to Kingston, SE on the beach but I did not want to get Plod all caked up with salty sand.

I then took the coast road on to Robe is was unbelievably busy parking places a no go by the shops which were along the beach road I suddenly realized that it was a Sunday. I then took the road to Long Beach fabulous it was to I just had to drive on the beach just to take a photo of Plod

I Stopped off at a Woakwine Cutting on the way to Beachport. The cutting was constructed by the late Mr Murray McCourt in order to drain a 420 hectare peat swamp on his property. The work was achieved in 3 years commencing 1957, by two men Mr McCourt and an employee Mr Dick Mclntyre. They removed 276,000 cubic meters of material with limited machinery and dynamite.

I was going on my way to Portland today but I got delayed what with talking to passers by that had stopped to do the Mount Schank Walking Trail. I decided to take a hike myself, a steep slop up the hill with well provided steps. Rather a slow process on my part, good job seat’s were provided for the old and feeble.

Time I got down it was lunch time then on to my computer to sort yesterdays photos and the Blog, I thought it best to stay here another night a well provided toilet block and a BBQ what more could I wish for and with shade. I filled up my water tanks as well. The day was hot but not unbearable.
