The Long Drive, Port MacDonnell, Nelson, Cape Bridgewater, Cape Nelson Lightstation, Mt Clay State Forest Sawpit Campground.

Jan17
After a restful day I set off very early to Port MacDonnell an extremely busy spot for the fishers I have never seen so many boat trailers in a car park, all out at sea. I had a long chat with a woman about the usual topic of conversation camp sites. I saw a Dolphin swimming around the boats and the Dolphin is never far away I only managed to catch it’s fin in a photo.
Coming in from the nights fishing
The town of Nelson was rather interesting with house boats on the river. A bird hide with a fishing jetty in a quaint lake near by. Just around the corner was the information center which was open! Another up man ship from WA.

Discovery Bay Coastal Park

I visited a spot called Discovery Bay Coastal Park which I was told about by two people I drove 13 km on dirt road to find I had to walk 2.2 Km to the beach I am getting lazy in my old age so off I went. Although it was a great place for a family especially the ones that had Dune Buggy’s I did not stop to explore as I had many more places to visit. I drove to Cape Bridgewater passing some fine horses. I stopped and parked don't faint I treated my self to an ice cream and sat on the beach watching the world go by.

Just up the road I went and had a look at the Blowholes not that impressive but I had to have a look I thought Cape Bridgewater was really a splendid place to visit

Then on to Cape Nelson Lightstation another 15 km just around the corner I arrived at the light house to find the cafe was closed and the cost of a guided tour up the light house was $30 so I decided not to kill my self and trek all the way up to the top like a puffing billy.

On to my night spot Mt Clay State Forest Sawpit Campground. I was told it was good, yes a good place to camp

A ranger popped by to make sure that we do not have any fires even though it had just been raining. A young couple David and Marine arrived in a rather noisy car.

In the morning I diagnosed the gear box layshaft, I gave them a cup of tea as they were unable to make one being a fire ban even primus stoves are banned.
Rather on the cold side to day. Talked to a few people around the site. This is a large well organized campground with clean camp toilets but no water or garbage bins. What can you expect for free. Some people stay here for quite some time.

Still stationery, defrosted the freezer and talking to a lonesome woman that told me her life story. Then I got talking to other people about camp sites a good relaxing day. I also went for a walk through the woods to the lookout; a view of Portland.
I must admit to day felt a little bit cold and on went my Morgan jacket.
