The Long Drive SA to Streaky Bay

Dec 30
I had a good night stop on the cliff edge with a good wind blowing keeping me cool, although it was an up and down night with my generator running to charge up my batteries for the fridge freezer until it ran out of petrol. One tank full lasts around 9 hours.
On my way stopping at all the view points to take some photos and meeting up with people doing the same thing. To day was an extremely hot day reported to be 40c. I kept on plodding along and reached a pleasant spot to camp the night with internet coverage a big bonus when on your own. I had a look at my photos with great disappointment as many shots were spoilt by my camera not opening its shutter properly. I had the same problem when I was in Darwin I believe it is the hot weather my camera dislikes.
Walk way to the viewing point

To day was even hotter 41c. I topped up my diesel tank from my spare can just to be on the safe side the last petrol station I past yesterday was over $2 a lit consequently I headed off. I drove along the highway looking at the large picturesque wheat fields the day is far too hot to stop for a photos, more to the point I hadn’t much spare time before my freezer would melt. I arrived at the border check point and handed in half a lettuce and off I went.
I stopped at Penong petrol station a vast difference in price $1.50 a litre so I filled up and of course petrol for my generator moreover he kindly let me have some water of which they have to buy in.
I had a job to decide which way to go the country route to Port Augusta or the coast road, as it was New Year's Day and a Holiday tomorrow with no Toyota garages open, I decided on the coast road, thinking it will be a lot cooler by the sea. I had a quick look around Streaky Bay took a few photo’s again my shutter was playing up. I plodded on and to my amazement I found a suitable site for the night not far away Eyres Waterhole, if I had known I would have stopped in the pub for a beer. On went my generator. Then I had a swarm of wasps flying around Plod trying to get in I had to close all the windows and doors as if it isn't hot enough, I got even hotter as if I could, perspiration was pouring off me but then that was better than getting stung.  Every thing in side Plod was hot when the sun went down it was heaven the fly’s and wasps disappeared a cool breeze blew through my now open windows.
