The Long Drive, Port Lincon-Dutton Bay, Lipson Cove to Point Lowly

Jan 3
First thing today was to ring round for a regulator after a few phone calls and searching the web I managed to locate one from a wreckers, a reconditioned one (I hope) and it will be posted to Mossy tomorrow, a Morgan friend. Toyota have no new one’s in Australia. Being Christmas Holidays every one was closed and driving across the Nullabour from Norseman to Streaky Bay was over 1300 km, with no possibility at all off getting any parts for any cars. I saw two broken down cars on trailers that the owners had to get back home.
I am in such a lovely place I thought I would take a rest to day and enjoy the surroundings chatting to a few people and a couple of locals having a few beer’s on the jetty. Not so many boats coming and going today being not a public holiday. The weather was just right although in the evening I had to put on my warm Morgan jacket.

Where has the sun gone? I had to put on my lLng John trousers to day. Had a quick look around Port Lincoln then on to my night stop Lipson Cove 18 km N of Tumby Bay a very pleasant drive passing many wheat fields. South Australia has beautiful beaches and you are allowed to camp on many of them, not like Western Australia especially south of Perth where the authorities put up sign’s NO CAMPING so that means I do not stop and spend money.

A casual drive up to Point Lowly again passing some interesting country side on the Lincoln High Way. I arrived at my site and was promptly invited in for a cup of tea with some people I met at Mount Dutton Bay. The site is very interesting and spread about with many caravan travellers.

A toilet block with cold showers a play area for children. The area is tarmac not sand or dirt although on a slight slop, I can live with that being a freebie site. Not forgetting the boat ramp.

A beautifully kept van with all mod cons. I certainty could live in this van it is a dream.
